What is forgiveness and why is it so important to us?

Forgiveness is the intention and action of detaching from pain caused by another person’s behavior or words.

It is letting go of the negative emotions attached to certain experiences and people, to invite peace and calm back in again for living a higher quality of life.

Why is it so important?

Simple! Because our happiness and growth depends on it.

Forgiveness is one of the hardest things to do as our thoughts and emotions get attached to the incident and become triggers, so every time we are reminded of it we feel the pain all over again.

According to Frank Helie of Huffington Post, “when the language part of the brain brings up the incident again, the limbic part of the brain that feels emotions gets reactivated and we feel the hurt all over again”.

There we go! That’s why it is so hard to forgive and yet so necessary.

Forgiveness takes time and it requires patience, understanding and self love.
